I live in France and have traveled all over the country and I still get the sense that this is a nation that's "liberal on the surface but conservative on the inside." (Side note: Did you know they don't even allow egg freezing here? I was shocked.)

Your point about family naturism intrigues me. I get parents with young kids, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around adults (e.g. 20s-30s) with their parents. LOL. Once, I went to dinner and there was a mom with her late 20s to 30ish-year-old son, which I found really weird at the time.
